éditions du coté is a design gallery and publishing house dedicated to locally produced craftworks.
From Bordeaux to Bilbao & Pau to Biarritz, we connect artisans with forward-thinking, local and international artists to create unique works of art.
Made to order and in limited edition, our pieces are locally produced in the Basque Country and Aquitaine region.

Mission
The Basque Country is rich in craft and craftsmen. However, price-based competition on the global stage forces these artisans to either chase industrial production, or create unique works to take to market independently. Production of this nature requires not only fluency in an artistic language, but also the resources to forecast, develop, plan, produce and sell goods.
éditions du coté offers Basque craftsmen the necessary infrastructure to sustainably create and sell unique sculptural furniture pieces, while maintaining the integrity on which their craft is based, and the storied ateliers in which their craftworks have always been made.
Manifesto
éditions du coté is a collaboration of local craftsmen and global artists who creating theme-based collections of limited edition objets d’art.
Mass-consumption, industrial standards and short - term trends do not interest us- instead our work is rooted in quality craft, regional expertise and a very personal artistic vocabulary.
Our beliefs are:
1. Standardization and globalization have a significant negative social and economic impact.
2. Production and artistic diversity can counter this impact.
3. Every object produced should be useful, durable and well-crafted.
4. Excellence can only be achieved with successful collaboration, and a curated body of work.
Who we are
Founded by Marc-Alexandre Ducoté after a career in the fashion industry, and Elodie Maentler, interior designer, éditions du coté showed their first collection in 2017.
Fallen in love wih their territory, they started éditions du coté with the will to highlight the Basque Country in a contemporary way, through its living heritage : local artisans and craftspersons.
